Go to Youtube.com
Copy the url of the video you want to download
Open Keepvid.com
paste the url in the box of the keepvid.com
press download button
then two links will appear in the box below
One of the low quality flv video and other of the high quality mp4 video file
right click on the one that you want and save it as desired name ( video.flv for flv and video.mp4 for the mp4 file ).
Easier solutions for those using Linux
When you watch a video in youtube, it is streamed and temporarily saved in your hard disk.
For Ubuntu users (haven't tried in other distros), the file is temporarily saved in /tmp with name like Flashxxxx where xxxx are some alphabets or digits.
Let the whole video be streamed and then save this file is some other location where you want to save.
But remember, the complete video need to be streamed and you must save the video in some other location before starting a new video in same tab/window.
