Foreign Exchange Student from Houston, Texas, USA

Hello Everyone!

I would like to introduce myself. I am Brian Davis and I am a foreign exchange student from Houston, Texas, USA. I will be attending M.Sc. Structural Engineering classes starting on Baisakh 2, 2066.

I am hoping to make some new friends on this site even before I get to Nepal. Currently, I am still living in Houston and I am preparing for my travels to Nepal closer to the start of classes. I am very curious about what student life is like at the Pulchowk Campus of IOE.

If you would like to know more about me, of if you would like to help me learn a little about Pulchowk, please comment on my blog entry. Nepal will be very far from home and I can use all the help I can get!

I look forward to meeting many new engineering students when I get to Nepal.

Brian

hi

I guess now ur in IOE,
how was ur experience

Good luck, but why you are

Good luck, but why you are flying to nepal from usa for study?

hello

don't even think of coming to NepAL. It's a pathetic place to be. You never know when you might get abducted and slaughtered. My friend, sincere request, Pulchowk is just pathetic. Teachers are useless. There are strikes always and uncertainty in exam schedules. If you look at the students they are all barbarians. They will simply try to impress you to suck your money. To be friends with you and use you. Trust me. Always Politics. yOU might never know when you can be beaten by some students at politics.

Good luck to your journey!

Good luck to your journey! You have chosen a very good course in college..

Change your mind if there's

Change your mind if there's still time. Believe me you'll not regret it. Its not the best university, not even mediocre. Teachers arent good, and like many before told they teach in Nepali and occasionally switch to English which is pathetic. Politics reigns over education, dont be surprised to see frequent college strikes, pen-downs etc. etc. And there is over 16 hours of painstaking daily load-shedding ( I wont be surprised if u dont know what that means).
Stay in US. Most of us are heading there upon completion of undergraduate degree. Meet u there, buddy.

This is ridiculous!

So, you're coming to Nepal to study Masters! I cannot even guess what might have induced that.... I mean did something happen to you when you were a kid! Anyway, I love to see the rivers flowing in opposite direction.

I wish you have a good time

I wish you have a good time here in Nepal.
There are 2 ways to harmony of travel and meditation

stay at pulchowk

Hello Brian,

Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus is the best engineering college in Nepal. As far as learning new culture and environment is concerned, you will enjoy life there.
For Masters, the university does not have adequate manpower and instruments in structural and other engineering department. 18 hour load shedding is of course frustrating, college strikes are daily life there.
you might have hard time in understanding the class lecture, because most of time teachers teach in Nepali and when they teach in english you cant catch their accent.
However, environment inside Pulchowk Campus is awesome. Hope you will enjoy life there.

Great Stay

College closes here like any time

politics bad politics

12-16 hrs load shedding

college life =not compatrable to US

tecahers here teach in Nepali so have a tough time ahead

dont ask me about hostel/ boarding and lodging/

website is useless

You are Welcome! , Brian

Welcome Brian. I will really be mean if i don't say those words. Well have a nice stay in IOE.

Brian Welcome to IOE

We all wish you have a good time here in Nepal.
